The Behind the Book Blogger Tag: All me, all the time

HEY GANG.

Right now, I should definitely be working on a wrap up post. I’m months behind and I need to wrap up, like…50 books? 60? 70? An ever-growing and also absurd number. But instead I’m writing this.

And the simple explanation for that is I’ve posted so. Many. Wrap-ups. Lately, and even I can get sick of myself when I’m that repetitive. And I’m never sick of myself. Which is why we’re about to spend the rest of this post talking ALL ABOUT ME!

The beautifulamazingfantastic Ellyn @ Allonsythornraxx made this tag (!!) and tagged me (!!) in it!! Yippee!! Find her post here. (Yes it was forever ago, but honestly the fact that I’m even DOING a tag, even if it was a million years ago, is a miracle.)

The Questions

1. Why did you start blogging and why have you kept blogging?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Simple self-obsession.

Also because I love books, and I love talking about them, and I love writing reviews and I love writing in general and a lot of the time I forget that I love it so it’s nice to have something to remind me.

But mostly self-obsession.

2. What is your favorite type of blog post to write?

Usually it’s wrap ups, but right now it is NOT that. Probably because I haven’t been blogging at all and when I have I’ve been writing the same post in the same structure for all time forever.

So right now it’s tags. Like this one!

3. What are your top three favorite blog posts?

AHHHH.

It’s moments like these when the elaborate façade of joke self-obsession falls apart. DON’T ASK ME FOR SPECIFICS. I ACTUALLY DON’T LIKE MYSELF THAT MUCH.

This is difficult.

It’s my birthday so here is every book I’ve ever truly loved

This is my most recent post and also absurdly long and also made up of my favoritest things so obviously I’m fond of it.

The Ultimate Wrap-up: Let’s talk February, March, April, & May

When it comes to wrapping up four months’ worth of reading in one post…I’ve done it before, I can do it again.

Happy New Year! I actually liked books in 2018 and here’s the proof

There is so much negativity on this blog (and in my life)…….I appreciate taking opportunities to dwell on the positive.

4. What are some of your favorite things to do to relax?

Relaxing? Never heard of her.

Just kidding, I live my entire life in relative luxury and ease, working hard never and wanting for little.

Just kidding again. Somewhere between the two?

To relax, I…obviously read. I listen to podcasts and do other things while I listen, like play Sims sometimes or play an iconic childhood game like Webkinz or Neopets. Or Matchington Mansion, the only game app worthy of having on my phone.

I lead an exhilarating life. (I have friends, I swear!)

5. What are three of your favorite things?

Books, comedy, sweets.

Truly my big three.

6. What are your proudest blogging moments?

Uh.

When I actually do it?

Because those moments are few and far between.

Honestly I was proud of my last year of blogging (2018). I actually posted semi-consistently and I posted things I was proud of.

As opposed to this year, when I haven’t posted, and 2017, when I didn’t post anything good.

Here’s to 2020.

7. What are your hobbies outside of blogging?

What is this “hobby” you speak of.

Obviously I love reading. I love writing book reviews. I’m very into comedy. I enjoy a game of Sims from time to time. But that basically sums me up.

I’m very one track minded.

8. Describe your personality in three words.

I am SO BAD at things like this. I have no self-perception. I went on vacation to Florida with my dear friend in July (stupid mistake – it felt like being inside the devil’s mouth) and we got one of those boardwalk portraits of ourselves done, mostly because I have no idea what I look like.

It looked like a Barbie-fied version of me. Pointless.

Also I feel like there’s no way to do this without bragging.

Here’s what I’ll go with: Curious. Sardonic. Empathetic.

Hopefully that makes any form of sense. If it doesn’t, refer to the fact that I have no idea what my own face looks like.

9. What are your top three pet peeves?

When people eat smelly or loud foods in a public, non-eating situation. (Can you tell I have food issues? If not: I have food issues.)

Customers who treat retail/service workers like they aren’t people. (It should be legally required that everyone work a retail/service job, just so this doesn’t happen.)

And, of course, PEOPLE WHO LOVE A BOOK AND THEN IMMEDIATELY, FOR SOME REASON, READ A NEGATIVE REVIEW OF IT IN ORDER, SEEMINGLY, TO MAKE THEMSELVES MAD AND ALSO HAVE AN EXCUSE TO BE MEAN TO A STRANGER ON THE INTERNET.

You can guess which one is the most frequent occurrence in my life.

10. What’s something your followers don’t know about you?

Well, I don’t talk about my personal life basically ever on this blog, so…a lot of things?

I truly don’t know what to even say here. I could say anything. I’m going to talk about one of my very favorite subjects: my dog, Louie, who is a golden retriever and weird and fantastic and my favorite living creature. (Also she’s a she. Yes I know that’s an unexpected name.)

Also may not know that I made a Twitter!! Please follow me. I crave the validation. (Also I’ll follow you back.)

Your dog sounds so cute, I need to see more of her!

I also really like doing tags, but my favorite posts to write are discussion posts! I love talking and rambling about my favorite bookish topics, although sometimes I’m very hard on myself when I can’t come up with super unique topics to discuss 😅 But I love writing them about my own opinions, because it gives my viewers an opportunity to also share their experiences with the topic, and I love reading the comments!

ooh that’s super impressive!! i don’t think i’ve…ever written a discussion post? i’ve never seen myself as cut out for it. maybe i will try?? anyway mad respect to you for writing them!

omg, Louie the she dog.. that is the best thing ever

i have the same hobbies you have plus Candy Crush (it’s kind of an addiction), and psychology (i’ve read the DSM like five times.). i could go on and on. i should write a post on the things I like.

I don’t really have a favorite blog post because i’m proud of all of them (i am that self-obssessed) but i think my faves are all my sh*tposts… i literally just talk about random stuff and don’t both with petty human concepts such as grammar

Sweetie!! I always miss you when I don’t see your post often, and I LOVE Wrap-Ups, so I’m ready to know more about all those books. Thank you SO much for the nomination, sweet, I’m SO SO excited to do the tag! ❤️❤️

It’s so hard when you have to describe yourself right? & The Sims is EVERYTHING so I feel you there 😅

I LOVE your posts, EVERY TIME, you have an incredible personality that transcends the screen, really & I’m your fan 🥰 🥰

I’ve anxiously been waiting for you to come back OMG!! awhile back I came across your blog and binge read all of your reviews!! how are you so funny? please teach me!
I love writing wrap-ups as well!! Maybe it’s my inner narcissist, but I love talking about myself in the ‘personal life’ section. also i feel like i’m writing a journal entry, but it’s interactive because people are commenting. yeah, haha. but I’ve recently started doing a lot of tags too, and I love it because all the questions are ready made and you can just answer them!!

OMG YOU ARE THE KINDEST EVER. i sold my soul to the devil in exchange for disliking 98% of the books i read.

omg yes i think i like it for the journal entry aspect too!! i rarely write much about my personal life but i like looking at my month at a glance. but yes tags are so fun to write!! they’re like longform personality quizzes ❤

Your dog sounds sooo cute, and I really want a dog too 🐶Books and sweets are also such a big comfort in my life. I have to agree with you 100% there! and OOF the food aspect is SO IMPORTANT. I hate when people eat something and it makes the entire room smell of that food!!

  6. Lais @ The Bookish Skies says:

okay, matchington mansion though??? i love that app so much! i play a lot of gardens capes too, which is essentially the same thing, but instead of decorating the mansion, you’re fixing the garden. i’m truly obsessed, which is a huge problem for my productivity sometimes.
i don’t really play the sims, but i’m obsessed with watching speed builds on youtube. they’re so satisfying!
and, honestly, i have no self-perception too most of the time. i am always shocked when people describe me as being quiet or calm, because most of the time i see myself as this stressed, loud and annoying person. i always think the way i describe myself is not the way my friends would describe me. Weird.
i’m sure your dog is adorable! and i’ll be looking forward to your wrap ups nonetheless! hopefully, you’ll feel more inspired to write them soon!

matchington mansion is the GOD OF GAMES. i love it b/c they always have like Events happening that make it somehow even more fun. & omg speed builds!! you have T A S T E.

isn’t that so mind boggling to think about??? i also always feel like i’m a slightly different version of myself with each person. i wonder if other people would like…actually agree tho. lmao

thank you queen!!! i’ve written a little over half of it…which is honestly not great bc it’s the longest thing ever.

Ahh, Emma I can’t believe I never saw this! WordPress didn’t notify me that you posted, I’m so sorry! 😭 I love you, I swear! 😍😍😍

I loved reading all your answers and your pet peeve of people not respecting retail workers hit me so hard. I always try my hardest to be my nicest self even if I feel bad, because they’re just doing their job and it’s not their fault if you’re having a bad day!

omg i love you too!!! my love runs too deep to be hurt by such a shallow occurrence don’t you worry.

i totally agree!! i always tried to do that but then i worked a couple retail / service jobs in college and realized how much someone being mean to me could affect my day…now i treat retail workers like saints lmao

I don’t know how I’ll be able to do this tag considering it requires too much self-awareness, but I am excited to do it anyways!! seeing as I have no inspiration as of late, tags are truly the only kinds of posts I can write 😎

also you have to tell me what podcasts you listen to!!! I’ve been trying and failing to get into them but you likely have the best recommendations and I’ll trust them with my entire being. and absolutely unfair that your golden retriever sounds like sunshine and I will never get to meet and/or pet her because I’m allergic. I’ll have to settle for living vicariously through you

but anyways, I’m just going to end this by saying that your “self-obsession” is very valid and understandable seeing how I am also obsessed with you

hard agree, although i’m considering just posting the 100 backlogged reviews i have for the rest of time and calling it a day

i really like comedy podcasts?? and i have a weird sense of humor?? but some of the more normal ones you might like… Reply All is fantastic. Serial (the first season) got me into podcasts. i really like S-Town. if you are willing to undergo the strange things that make me laugh i can rec those too! (i am so sorry for your allergy but know my dog loves you from afar.)

well i am obsessed w you so look at this lovely circle of obsession we’ve uncovered
