Scales & Scoundrels Review: Dragons + Beautiful Art + Girl Protagonist????

Synopsis: The new Image Comics series Scales & Scoundrels invites readers of all ages to join a group of treasure hunters and warriors as they venture into an ancient labyrinth. But what these characters don’t know if that they’re heading down a path that will take them far beyond that maze, putting the fate of the world in their hands. Written by Sebastian Girner with art by Galaad, Scales & Scoundrels follows Luvander, an orphan “treasure-hunter, adventure-seeker, [and] life-saver.” She’s looking to make a name for herself while getting rich in the process, and she assembles a group of like-minded individuals to brave The Dragon’s Maw with her.

Graphic Novels: Three Mini Reviews

In an attempt to catch up with what I thought was a hopelessly lost battle between myself and my reading challenge, I hit up my local library. (Nice! is what you should all be saying, in unison, pumping your fists.)

Anyway, I headed over to the (newly expanded!) graphic novel section to do what I perceive as a lil harmless cheating. I picked up five, ended up reading three, and did not really enjoy them at all.

Happy New Year! My 2016 Favorites

At this point, every time someone makes a 2016 joke, an up-and-coming comedian’s career dies. Still, it was a pretty shitty year, and even though time is a human construct and the supposed fresh start is really just another day, the symbol of the thing is nice!
