I, as many of us do, have a book-buying problem.
This is due to the fact that I want every book with a pretty cover in the entire world, and also every edition of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and every YA release and every classic that has ever hit a must-read-in-a-lifetime list and every memoir of every comedian I’ve ever cracked a smile at and every middle grade adventure story and every feminist collection of women in history with pretty illustrations which is a surprisingly vast subgenre.
All of that adds up pretty fast.
A ways back Destiny (who is amazing you should follow her) posted her full owned TBR as a method of motivating herself to some o’ those backlist books. I liked that idea and so, as I do with most things I like, I stole it.
I’ve been kinda okay at reading owned books this year, but not awesome. I’ve been good at not buying but Not good at resisting the library. (I just discovered Overdrive ok!!! Sue me! God.)
Anyway. Here are all the books I own and haven’t read yet and hopefully I’ll come back and mark them as read when I get to them and we’ll all be happy and joyful and I’ll have stuck to a plan for once in my life.

Same! I’ve been on a ban for a while now so I’m trying to get it under control but it’s so hard to resist! Plus I get books from publishers or I request more on Netgalley !

the books from publishers are the hardest!! maybe i’ll just be stuck at around 75 for all eternity.

I recently went through my own physical TBR, and I found at least over 80 books that I haven’t read. D: D: D: I love how you separated it out, so you can at least go back to it. There were some great books on your unread list, so you’ll have some great books to look forward to. The Importance of Being Earnest is a fantastic one! ❤ Wonderful post! 🙂

yaaaay! thank you so much! i’ve never read any Oscar Wilde before but i’m so excited to try him out. i’m just around 75 books on my physical tbr so we are in much the same boat

Pretty sure my tbr is about double the size of yours…. 🤔🙈
But I am literally the same! I decided to buy no new books this year and just tackle my owned tbr. That’s great and all, but I went to the library ONCE and came back with 8 books to read!!! 😣😣
And Stardust, Neverwhere and Daughter of Smoke and Bone are all amazing! ❤

i’ve cut down my owned tbr to ~75 books but i’m completely stuck there!! i’m literally addicted to library ebooks. also rereading. can’t stop won’t stop.
i’m excited to get to all three of those!! yay gaiman (and also laini taylor maybe)

I wish I could just do that, could just get rid of my tbr, but apparently that is beyond my capabilities. Ergh!
And OMFG GAIMAN IS AMAZING! Genuinely one of my fave authors, his books are great! Enjoy!

i’ve read five gaiman books so far and have given three of them five stars which is just…an amazing ratio. can’t wait to read more from him!!

Ahhh I loved A Thousand Splendid Suns! I don’t branch out into adult fic very often but that one was so worth it. I hope you love it as much as I did when you get around to it!
I’ve also been meaning to read Cindy Anstey’s books because they sound so adorable and fluffy and I’ve never really read that in YA historical fiction before. I’m not majorly into historical but I always like it when I read it and her books have the best covers and just sound so delightful!
I hope you enjoy these 🙂

I need to do this! I have a total book buying compulsion. I seriously think I own almost 100 books that I haven’t yet read. haha. I think it will be scary to confront that number, but also necessary so I can chip down my backlog and keep from buying more!

I really liked Station Eleven, a slow burn of a dystopia-ish novel. It took me three tries to get into Neverwhere, but it’s now my favorite Gaiman, so good <3. Ooooh, which version of Stardust do you have? I love the one with Charles Vess's illustrations.
And the only other one on your list I've read is Slasher Girls and Monster Boys, which I thought I would be all about, but I can’t remember any of them?? I think I liked a couple quite a bit, but others, hell no, and I’m afraid there’s an Alice in Wonderland inspired story in there that is disturbing and not fun.

oooh so good to hear about both!! i’ll keep in mind with neverwhere that it might be a slowish start

That is a lot! lol. I have not read any of these except for Wuthering Heights and I read it in 10th grade which was 9 years ago, so I do not remember if it was good or not. Good luck!!

OH MY GOD EMMA I LOVE LISTS! YOU JUST MADE A VERY SICK GIRL VERY HAPPY!
I too have a book buying problem so now I kind of want to write a list like this to keep myself accountable! I honestly loved reading this post because it really shows that there are so many other books out there that we could absolutely love, but we just haven’t read yet! I particularly loved reading this because I found it so interesting, we have so many different books on our physical tbr!

Ofcourse, I have a major book-buying problem too!! Bought 16 books last week from a Book Bazaar! I had to send some of them back home because my dorm shelf is running out of space.
Also, I think I might just steal this idea of yours too and categorize my unread books too!

Ahh I recently did this post too, it’s kinda motivating to see all the unread books out there for all of the world to see and remind me to read them. Especially when people commented that they love book ABC, it makes me even more excited to read them! I love Frankenstein and Wuthering Heights, but hated Emma (my edition is gorgeous though, so I can’t give it away). I love Daughter of Smoke and Bone, but I hated the rest of the series

i lovelovelove this kind of post – reading them and writing it! i will be extremely excited for frankenstein and wuthering heights and daughter of smoke and bone, and then very wary of emma and everything after daughter of smoke and bone ❤

Emma, you need to read Wonder Woman: Warbringer! I loved the book. It features a strong female friendship and the romance is very, very low-key, which I feel like fits Wonder Woman perfectly. After watching Wonder Woman over the summer, I was so scared this book would be a total flop because the movie was so good, but it wasn’t. I don’t even know why I was worried. Read it now!!!

The Women in the Castle was such an uncomfortable book to read. Don’t get me wrong, it was very well done, but a bit stomach-churning at times.
And Neverwhere is one of my all time favorite books. Totally enchanting. 🙂
