Catch up on this ol’ thing with my post from yesterday.
Can you believe I just said (okay, wrote) the words “my post from yesterday”??? I’m here two days in a row!!! I don’t think that has ever happened! Ever!
This is technically a book blog, but really it’s more a “let’s watch Emma be endlessly impressed with herself for accomplishing the most basic of tasks” blog. Definitely fewer topics to cover, but arguably more fun.
Let’s get into this faster this time, yeah?
Rules:
- Thank the person who nominated you (thanks Angelica @ The Book Cover Girl and Rhea @ Bookchanted)
- Post a quote for 3 consecutive days (1 quote for each day)
- Nominate three new bloggers each day
Quote No. 2
“Thus, though we cannot make our sun
Stand still, yet we will make him run.” -Andrew Marvell
These are the concluding lines to the moderately controversial poem “To His Coy Mistress,” by Andrew Marvell. I say “moderately controversial” because on the surface it seems like the narrator is trying to pressure the subject of the poem into having sex with him, but it’s actually a pretty solid satirical look at courtly love.
Anyway. I’m English major-ing it up over here.
I think these lines are a really beautiful kinda carpe-diem message. You know, we can’t stop time so we may as well live it up while we have it. I genuinely intend to get those words tattooed on me. Hurray for rare moments of completely serious pretension from me, as opposed to somewhat goofy pretension!
As mentioned the other time, feel free to ignore this. Really. I won’t get my feelings hurt. Even a little. Okay, maybe a little, but I won’t guilt trip you about it.
I love that line! And of course, the English major in me had to look read the rest of the poem. I really liked that too! And it’s cool, sometimes you just have to English major it up. I relate!

AAH. Thank you so much for tagging, name twin!! (I was actually already tagged for this, so I guess that means… I should do six quotes rather than three???) 🤔
Btw, I’ve missed your blog so much! I took a bit of an unplanned break from WordPress (as you know), but I came back yesterday and I’m glad that I’m able to catch up on your posts. ❤️❤️

I absolutely love this line that you chose Emma! Sooooo harmonic, it could really fit well in a song. I totally agree with what you say on living our lives to the fullest and getting the most out of the time we have.
Oh – and I love this tag too!!! ❤
